A popular favourite is the gentle Palmiet River walk, an easy, scenic path tracing tea-coloured waters, ideal for birding, family ambling and cool-off dips in summer. (Permits and day access apply in parts of the reserve.) Mountain bikers can pick up undulating valley routes with sweeping views, while hikers can choose anything from relaxed rambles to heart-pumping ascents.
